Painting over injustice: the link between hunger and violence

David Miller – UMC – 2-6-05 : “In this nation I see tens of millions denied the necessities of life…. The test of our progress is not whether we add more to those who have much; it is whether we provide for those who have too little.” But today we are schooled to fear our own scarcity… We are taught that generosity is too risky… Progress is protecting self-interest. And thus the cycle of violence becomes the cyclone of violence.
