Mischief managed: Uchaguzi reports “everything fine” in Kenya referendum

Ushahidi is an online software platform designed for mapping a crisis. For the first time yesterday, the prevailing message was “everything fine” from over 650 regular citizens, using their cell phones to text in a status to a map of Kenya during the national referendum on a new constitution. These aren’t NGOs or election monitors – they are regular people, taking time to collectively verify a free and fair election one polling event at a time.

Gichuki Francis of TYSA writes:”It was so a peaceful referendum. YES has taken the day with over 6million against 2.6M of NO, with tallying still going on. The NO have conceded defeat and the YES are calling everyone on board to now start implementation of the constitution once it is promulgated.”
